Show Highlight—
Hayter vs. Willow. A strong showing for Jamie and they both had their working boots on from the start. Hayter’s work looks authentic, crisp, and credible. Almost like she should be the featured women’s wrestler!
What Worked—
The Acclaimed loves that everyone loves The Acclaimed. Max Caster had the biggest damn grin on his face and it was great to see. It’s exciting, as a viewer, to see a young wrestler at the top of his craft revel in all the stars aligning perfectly before him. In an age where wrestlers openly complain that they’re not getting enough exposure or are upset about the reaction they get, it’s refreshing to see them do so well with the full weight of the promotion behind them.
Schiavone’s Scissoring. Hearing Tony talk about Scissoring in his best broadcaster’s voice gave me a smile. Great to see him enjoying his work and really leaning into what he’s doing with AEW.
Gunn Club shooting too close to home? Color me a conspiracy theorist but FTR have historically been awfully vocal about their TV time (may I add, rightly so) and those promos by the Ass Boys land like a shitty troll response to Dax’s Twitter’s feed. What happened to FTR’s alliance with Wardlow?
What Didn’t Work—
Hook’s next thing. Hook getting TV time is always the right call, but can’t he get a more meaningful rival to get a bigger rub? Saying nothing about their potential, but aren’t the Trustbusters on a lower tier than even the Nightmare Factory? Did Hook like shit in a girl’s purse or something?
Show Cringe—
Contract tampering. GET IT?!?! You just know so many guys are pitching bits to Tony where they pull a rabbit out of their hat and stomp it or some other such shit to really shatter the 4th wall.
